FAQ’s

How does The Oasis work?

Our patent-pending technology simultaneously provides clean water and electricity using nothing more than heat. Here’s how it works: Apply heat (like a campfire or stove) to a pressure cooker filled with contaminated water. As the water boils, it leaves any impurities behind as it is turned into steam, this is the basic principal of distillation. As the steam passes through our innovative ‘magic box,’ it is condensed it into safe, drinkable water. Simultaneously, the system generates enough electricity to charge critical devices, providing a lifeline when power grids fail.

How is the electricity generated?

The Oasis generates electricity using thermoelectric generators (TEGs), which convert heat into electrical power. The process begins when the Oasis heats water using a fuel source like biofuel or a wood fire. Inside the device, there are special thermoelectric materials that respond to heat. When one side of these materials is heated by the hot steam while the other side remains cool, it creates a flow of electricity. This flow of electricity is then captured and can be used to power small devices like phones or lights. The beauty of this system is that it doesn’t require any moving parts—just the heat from the water, making it a simple and efficient way to generate power.

Do I need solar panels to make The Oasis run?

Nope! Since we designed The Oasis with thermoelectric power generation capabilities, solar panels are not needed to make it run. All you need is a source of heat. This makes it superior to solar panels for when you need to generate power on cloudy days or at night when there is very little to no sunlight available.

Why do I need a coolant?

Since The Oasis functions by implementing distillation, or the process of purifying water by turning it into steam, there needs to be some source of coolant that is able to extract the heat out of the steam to allow it to condense back into liquid water. Think of when you have a cold glass of ice water on a hot day and you start to see water droplets form on the outside of the glass. The water droplets are the condensing moisture (steam) while the cold water glass is the coolant. The Oasis is basically a scaled up version of the cold glass of water.

What can I use as coolant in my Oasis?

We recommend only using cold water as the coolant, as any other type of liquid could degrade The Oasis over time. Since the coolant water does not need to be purified what so ever, you can use water from whatever source of contaminated water you wish to purify, i.e. water from a lake or ocean. If you are not near the source of water you are trying to purify, you can always fill a bucket up with cool water and use that, though you will need to change the water out every 20-30 minuets or so to prevent recirculation and overheating.

How much power does my Oasis produce?

The Oasis is able to generate a whopping 10 watts of usable energy, though the actual power output depends on operating factors such as how hot the heat source you are using is and how cold your coolant is. A hotter heat source and a cooler coolant will produce more power.

How long does it take to purify water?

Once the system is running, i.e. distilled water is pumping out of the system, The Oasis can purify up to a gallon of water in under two hours. Purification time depends on how hot your heat source and how cold your coolant is.

Why do I need a pressure cooker?

The pressure cooker is where the distillation process begins. Dirty water is converted into steam when boiled and since the pressure cooker only has a small opening for the steam to escape, this allows 100% of the steam produced to be funneled into The Oasis.
